Digital X-Rays
The Dental Group can take a picture of your
teeth, then, almost immediately show it to you
on a computer monitor while you are in the
dental chair. In a matter of seconds images
appear larger than life! Your dentist can zoom
in on a single tooth, rotate it and sharpen it as
you take an active role in discussing treatment
options. You can see what your dentist sees.
Now, you can better understand how your dentist
will treat your teeth.
Digital X-Rays are computer generated. This
state of the art system of producing images
works by placing a small, flat sensor in your
mouth. The sensor is connected to a thin wire
that is attached to a computer. The x-ray beam
is directed through your teeth and into the sensor,
which records the image and sends it to
the computer. Within a matter of seconds, you
are looking at a picture of your teeth on a computer
screen. If your insurance company needs
x-rays to approve and pay benefits, images and
claims can be transmitted electronically or
printed on paper, to prevent any delay in their
response.
Patients also take comfort in knowing that they
are no longer exposed to the amount of radiation
that is used for producing images with
conventional equipment and film. The digital
x-ray system requires as much as 90 percent
less radiation.
Digital X-Rays are environmentally friendly,
as they do not require the use of toxic chemicals
for processing and storage. Traditional
celluloid film is coated with silver oxides that
must be developed in caustic solutions. Digital
X-Rays are produced with minimal radiation
and computer technology.
This new technology is another added value to
The Dental Group’s goals toward the improvement
in the quality of care, degree of comfort
and level of convenience
