If you're like so many patients, the lingering numbness of local anesthesia is something you've become used to - but never comfortable with. It's not easy getting on with the rest of your day when part of you is still not feeling normal.

Initially, for your comfort we use a special formulated topical anestetic in order to make the anestetic injected nearly painless. Then, most often we utilize a recently available profound anestetic (Septocaine) that makes even "hard to get numb" patients comfortable.

OraVerse is not recommended for patients younger than 6 or weighing less than 33 pounds.

The sooner you feel more like yourself, the sooner you can get back to being more productive. The average duration of soft tissue numbness following the use of a local dental anesthetic is 3-5 hours. This numbness results in difficulty in speaking, smiling and drinking normally, and occasionally in drooling. Now, we offer the option of administering OraVerse immediately following your procedure. This will allow for a return to normal sensation and function in about half the usual time.
