Your First Visit

Right from the start, we encourage you to take an active role in our diagnostic process by discussing your dental concerns and objectives with us. Your initial visit will include:

• An extensive review of your medical history to determine its relation to your dental needs
• A comprehensive examination of:
  • Your oral hard and soft tissues (including an oral cancer exam)
  • Your jaw joint (TMJ) and related muscles
  • Your occlusal (bite) function and its stability
  • Your periodontal (gum) health
  • Your teeth - for decay, cracks, wear, etc.
• A cosmetic evaluation - i.e., ways to improve your smile
• Any necessary diagnostic x-rays
• Use of a magnifying intra-oral camera (to help you see what we see)
• A careful assessment of all diagnostic data to determine your total dental needs
